For Pakistani students

Scholarship for Italy

Explore Italy’s main scholarship routes for bachelor’s, master’s and PhD study. Scholarship availability, amounts and deadlines change every academic year.

Main scholarship options

International students can often apply for more than one route, but each program has separate eligibility rules and deadlines.

Regional Right-to-Study Scholarships (DSU)

Need-based support offered by regional agencies such as ER.GO Emilia-Romagna, LazioDiSCo, EDISU Piemonte, and regional agencies in Tuscany, Veneto, Lombardy and other regions.

Possible support: May include tuition-fee reduction or exemption, cash support, subsidized meals and accommodation, depending on the annual regional call.

MAECI Italian Government Scholarship

A competitive scholarship from Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for eligible international students. Pakistan may be included in the annual call; applicants must always verify the current call.

Possible support: Benefits, eligible degree levels, language rules and deadline are defined by the annual MAECI call.

University Merit Scholarships

Many Italian universities offer merit, excellence, tuition-waiver or departmental awards for international students.

Possible support: Awards can be based on academic results, admission ranking, entrance tests, portfolio, research proposal or financial need.

What support may include

  • Tuition-fee reduction or exemption
  • Regional or university cash grant
  • Student residence or housing contribution
  • Subsidized university meals
  • Other benefits listed in the official call

Typical application process

  1. Select a degree and university.
  2. Apply for admission and monitor the university portal.
  3. Prepare Pakistani family-income and asset documents early.
  4. Submit the regional or university scholarship application before its deadline.
  5. Complete enrolment and provide any missing evidence after arrival.

Documents Pakistani students should prepare

  • Passport
  • Admission or pre-admission evidence, when required
  • Academic certificates and transcripts
  • Family income and asset documents from Pakistan for regional scholarships
  • Official translations and legalisation/attestation where required
  • Proof of residence/family composition, when requested
  • Language certificate or accepted medium-of-instruction evidence
  • Admission application, motivation letter and CV when requested
Important: Income and asset requirements differ by region. The scholarship authority may require official Pakistani documents, translation, legalisation, embassy verification or a specific equivalent-ISEE process. Do not rely on a generic list—follow the current call for your selected region.
